Viva La Nobilis

(photo of me at the Nobilis outlet in 2004)

Not too far from the Ile de la cite island on the left bank on Rue Bonaparte is where you can find Nobilis which is a fine home fabrics and accessories shop. On the same block,a few stores away, there is even an outlet store where you can find great bargains. In 2004,we visited both locations. The showroom underwent a remodel from the last time we were there 3 years prior. The shop had expanded in size. The decor had taken on a more upscale setting with dramatic lighting showcasing the latest wallpapers, fabrics and even furniture. Lots of beautiful fabric but very expensive. However, the price difference at the outlet was like night and day. We managed to find 16 yards of the yellow gold silk damask fabric for the sofa(see picture)slipcover for 60% less of what we would have paid if that same fabric were in their showroom. The outlet was the way we remembered from our first visit. Just large tables with mounds of fabric bolts marked "vente"(sale). The fabric for the decorative pillows and saddle cover was purchased at the showroom. Luckily, we only needed a few yards. I especially loved our choice for the pillows with its alternating green and gold textured trellis patterned fabric separated by a ribbon trim in the same colors fringed with a gold threaded pile. The slipcover and pillows were made by our favorite upholsterer Walt, owner of California Upholstery. You visit Nobilis online at Nobilis.fr

The camel saddle is from Saudi Arabia. It was a gift to us from Dan's parents who visited the country years ago.

The decorative pillows originally intended for the living room sofa, have found a new home by the bay window.
