As a big admirer of McQueen, I am very saddened over this tragic news.
London, England (CNN) -- The world of fashion paid tribute to top designer Alexander McQueen Thursday after he was found dead in his London home.
The designer, born Lee McQueen, had a reputation for controversy that earned him the titles "enfant terrible" and "the hooligan of English fashion."
Asked about reports of McQueen's death, London's Metropolitan Police said a 40-year-old man was found dead at an address in Green Street, central London.
They would not confirm his identity, and said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

This is such sad news - both the loss of a brilliant man, and the loss of a fashion artist that pushed the envelope and fashion forward.
Such a shame that great success and acclaim isn't enough to make some people see the sunlight.

Oh, my, I was really sad when I heard this. Thanks for this post, because this has gone largely unmentioned. He was brilliant and troubled and I wish he were still here. He did fabulous things.
The world suffered such a great loss. The loss of such an extraordinary man, creative genius, and legend. It is so sad to thini that even with so much success and talent, he had so many demons in his personal life :(
